The Power of Morning & Nighttime Routines

In the rhythm of our bustling lives, the way we start and end our days can significantly influence our well-being. Embracing intentional morning and night routines isn't just a trend; it's a transformative practice that can set the tone for success and foster deep rejuvenation. In this blog we will discover ways to effectively wake up and wind down as well as the benefit you might experience from practicing these rituals. There are a lot to choose from in this blog, so take and implement what speaks to you most or sparks your interest.

The Morning Ritual: A Blueprint for Success

Early Rise for Early Wins:

Waking up a bit earlier might feel like a challenge, but the benefits it pays throughout the day are immeasurable. Those precious moments before the world awakens offer an opportunity to prioritize yourself. Mornings when I am wake up rushed and running out the door, I always find myself wishing I had just gotten up and mentally prepared for my day. Start small. Set your alarm 5 minutes earlier every morning, and before you know it you have an extra hour to prioritize yourself for your day ahead. Now let’s dive into what you can do with this extra time.

Mindful Beginnings:

Whether it's a moment of meditation to center your thoughts or a few gentle stretches, introducing mindfulness into your morning routine can cultivate mental clarity and focus. For the more active souls, a morning jog or cardio session can jumpstart your energy levels. I am a gentle morning person and find that taking even 5 minutes of mindful breathing & meditation can provide so much peace and clarity for starting my day.  This practice helps cultivate clarity, confidence, and allows us to ground before we go. This can be useful in our work, how we speak to people we interact with, and how we react to situations.

Nourishment for Body and Soul:

Hydrate your body with warm water and lemon, this works to activate the digestion system. Water first thing in the morning waters down your stomach acid, making it easier to digest your food.

Kickstart your skincare routine, and indulge in a bit of gua sha for a rejuvenating facial massage. This helps to drain the face of excess fluid, giving us that ~snatched look. It also boosts circulation, improves fine lines and wrinkles and relieves muscle tension we hold in our faces.

Make your bed! This step might be small, but studies show that people who make their bed before they start their day are more productive and successful. Personally, it gives me a sense of accomplishment right off the bat and sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Eat before you drink coffee. Drinking coffee before nourishing your body with proper nutrients will wreak havoc on your adrenals and spike your cortisol levels. Prioritize protein, but don’t overthink it. It can be as simple as a hard-boiled egg, protein bar, banana and peanut butter, you get the picture.

Journaling is a great way to get clear on your thoughts. Journaling is a tool used to increase gratitude for the things you have in your life when we are stressed about things that might not be going our way. It also helps combat anxiety, decrease stress, increase creativity, boost memory, and achieve goals.

Morning steps. If you start your day with movement normally, I admire your morning person skills. As a night owl, squeezing movement in the morning is hard for me. But even a walk around the block, getting some fresh air, or hitting the treadmill for 30 minutes will mentally make you more alert and ready for the day ahead.

Prepping the Canvas:

By the time you step into your day, you’ve already had a full day. Your morning routine becomes a personal haven, setting the stage for a day filled with focus, productivity, and an overall sense of well-being.

The Evening Wind Down: How to Prepare for Deep Rest

Digital Detox:

Two hours before bedtime, bid adieu to your electronic companions. The blue light emitted by screens can disrupt your circadian rhythm, hindering the quality of your sleep.

Legs Up the Wall:

This simple yoga pose isn't just about winding down; it's a powerful tool for increasing lymphatic drainage, improving digestion, and boosting circulation.

Legs up the wall is a serene transition into the tranquility of the night. Just 8-10 minutes will do the trick.

Viral Sleepy Girl Mocktail:

A magnesium cocktail after dinner acts as a soothing elixir for your nervous system, promoting relaxation and aiding in a restful sleep.

Recipe:

-       Calm (magnesium powder): 1 scoop

-       Tart cherry juice: ¼ cup

-       Probiotic lemon-lime soda (Poppi, Olipop, Stevia): ¼ cup

-       Ice

Mix and enjoy. Trust me, this one knocks me out within an hour.

Mindful Breathing to Calm Your Nervous System:

Engage in deep breathing, and embrace a moment of meditation before you lay down to rest. You can multi-task and do this while you’re legs are up the wall. This combination will ease the nervous system and get you back into the parasympathetic nervous system, a state of ‘repair and digest”.

Mastering Your Morning Recap:

With each intentional step in your morning routine, you're gifting yourself a headstart. The clarity, focus, and energy you carry into your day become the pillars of your success.

Nighttime Rejuvenation Recap:
